I look forward to my first (of many I hope) trip on your boat with my wife, children and grand children in the very near future. Being a "Jack" well versed in local history, I can't wait. It,s winter now, not cold and crisp but wet and miserable: so it looks like Spring; you never know it could be sooner if the weather improves!!
I really wish you all the success in the future,

What a brilliant idea; a community boat to integrate and celebrate the diversity of people and cultures from our city.

Is this boat ready to take passengers yet and if not please can you advise when you envisage this happening?

I am working with various schools, colleges, universities and community groups presently toward an exciting city event in October which requires a good deal of forward planning. My vision is that trips may be arranged for groups to create art or literacy projects whilst on the move for a fee to you and a donation to the Jean-Robert Cadet Restavek Organization, to whom its founder is due to visit for "Black History Month". It may be that other ideas upon the boat could be realised, such as presentation talks, the hosting of corporate wine and cheese evenings, etc, etc.

If you can accomodate any of these ideas or have some of your own for community engagement activities which are mutually beneficial, please do not hesitate to contact me soon.

Regards,
Angela Smith

Hi I have been looking at the black prince web site and see that you need volenteers I am recently retired and would like to offer myself as a volenteer I could commit myself to one day a week at the moment . I was a time served instrument engineer until 1983 when we moved to Tenby and went into the catering trade owning a couple of hotels then prior to retirement a tearoom. I would be willing to volenteer as crew/ deck hand and maintenance/diy. I hope the above potted history is of use to you and look forward to hearing from you .

We are a group of ladies belonging to townswomens guild in Gorseinon, we have an annual trip each August and were wondering if your boat would be in use by then and also if it is suitable for ladies of pension age. The classroom looks interesting and we are never too old to learn.
Many thanks

Many thanks for your comment. We are currently in the process of applying for a grant to enable us to install a wheelchair lift to enable full access to wheelchair users, as well as installing accessible toilet facilities - it is one of our main priorities now that we have secured the boat itself.

I am unable to give any exact dates as yet, but we hope to be up and running by this summer. If you keep an eye on this website, or subscribe by email, you can find out what has been happening and when the first tours will run.

Could you tell me if the new boat is capable of taking electric wheelchairs without the need for the occupant to vacate the chair ? I am thinking of my mother who (following a fall systaining major head injuries) is unable to move, feed or speak and so cannot be moved from the chair without the use of a specialist hoist and sling. I have been looking for opportunities for her to get out and about as she is rarely able to do so due to her condition and thought that a canal boat trip would enhance her quality of life.
